Highlights from TED

Dan 2.0 who was actually Vice President of Theatre of Ted hosted this Ted. The evening started with a very small turn out due to the Gala, but as the night went on, more and more people showed up, some with cheese!

Scott explained that Dan had made a mistake with last week’s host notes claiming that Scott had done the Rubix cube in less than 5 minutes. Scott informed Ted that he could do it in a lot less then that and would prove it tonight! Later in Ted he did the Cube in 2 minutes and 10 seconds. A little bit better then 5 minutes right?

Nick Lamb brought many musical instruments to Ted this week that were used in two pieces. When Nick was getting set up he had a Maraca in each foot shaking them. Someone from the audience called him a freaking rattlesnake. The first of the two pieces was an improv song and the second was a version of The Devil Went Down to Georgia cued by Ricky, I think. Lots o people got involved with this and some great music was made.

Dan Radcliff did a lot this week. He had three of his own pieces and was in even more. His first was a skit called prank calls. His second was the ever-popular Master Pipe Theatre. This week he did Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Julius Caesar and The Ice Man Cometh. The slightly altered tales were amusing for everyone. His last piece needs a little more explanation. Annette Fetch delivered a cheese tray to Ted. This tray was soon after knocked over by Ricky. About half the Cheese was saved. Dan grabbed a cheese ball and had it sitting on his desk. He then got up and said he would attempt to eat as much of the Cheese ball as he could, but he needed people to come up and tell jokes while he was doing it so it was not just him on stage eating Cheese. Tons of people came up and did their favorite jokes. Dan did not get the ball finished, but he didn’t puke either, so that is good!

Matt and Enrico did a rocking version of the Itsy Bitsy Spider. They interpreted the song in a 70’s style, heavy death metal rock and rap. It was a very clever idea and everyone really seemed excited to see what was going to be the next style.

I have seen many dreidels being Jewish, but I have never seen one quite like the Human Dreidel that Mike Schmeck and Ricky Rodriguez did. To explain: Mike was to be spun on his chest in the air on Ricky’s head. I guess you had to see it to believe it. It was really cool.

Mike also did something called Pure Comedy (Balls). I don’t want to spend too much time on it because it was short, but I will say one thing. Balls.

Nick Lamb had the improv going again with a round of Lets Make a Date and a huge game of Freeze. Lots of People got involved and lots of great things came out of it.

Enrico and Ricky did an Irish Folk, which was then followed by Matt and Scott having a Starring Contest. Matt won 2 out of 3.

To end that night off before the Freeze game, Ricky and Liz did Improve Slam Poetry. I am a big fan of performance Poetry and what these two did was really funny, but also really good. They asked for a term from the audience and made a slam poem on it. Their terms were Dehydration, Cows and Milk, Farming and Barnacles.

This Ted lasted about 1 1/2 hours and would have to be the most well dressed Ted so far this year.
